Tech Talent Cymru is a new graduate placement programme being developed by Darogan in partnership with Equal Education Partners and Hatch Consultancy, connecting talented graduates with Welsh SMEs.
Through one of two specialist pathways, Artificial Intelligence or Cyber Security, you will work directly with a business to solve real challenges, build practical experience and develop the skills needed for a future-facing career.
These are not general graduate roles where your technical knowledge sits on the sidelines. You will be supported to use what you already know, learn through experience and help a Welsh business take meaningful steps forward.
Choose your pathway
Graduate AI Consultant
Help a Welsh business understand where AI could make a genuine difference.
You could review existing processes, identify repetitive or time-consuming tasks, research useful AI tools and support small projects linked to real business needs. You will also help staff understand how to use AI responsibly, safely and with confidence.
This pathway could be a good fit if you have experience using AI through your degree, work, personal projects or independent learning, and you are interested in how technology can improve the way organisations work.
You could gain experience in:
- Reviewing business processes and mapping workflows
- Identifying practical opportunities to use AI
- Researching and comparing AI tools
- Supporting small AI adoption projects
- Producing clear recommendations for managers
- Responsible AI use, including privacy, quality control and human oversight
- Explaining technical ideas in straightforward language
Graduate Cyber Security Consultant
Help a Welsh business become more secure, resilient and better prepared for cyber threats.
You could review existing policies and working practices, help identify common risks, support Cyber Essentials readiness and create practical guidance for staff. Your work will help the business understand where it may be exposed and what it can realistically do next.
This pathway could suit you if you have a solid foundation in cyber security and want to apply it in a real business environment.
You could gain experience in:
- Carrying out basic cyber readiness reviews
- Identifying and explaining common cyber risks
- Reviewing policies, processes and staff guidance
- Supporting safer practices around accounts, devices and data
- Creating cyber awareness materials
- Helping businesses prepare for Cyber Essentials
- Documenting risks and prioritising improvements
- Supporting incident reporting and escalation processes

Subject to funding confirmation, the programme also aims to include training, mentoring and programme support throughout your placement.
Roles will be Wales-based and will involve a minimum of 25 hours per week. Working arrangements may be office-based or hybrid, depending on the host business.
Who can apply?
We are looking for recent graduates who already have a good foundation in either AI or cyber security and are ready to apply their knowledge in a real workplace.
You do not need to know everything from day one. You should, however, be curious, willing to learn and confident asking questions. You will also need to be able to explain technical ideas clearly and understand the importance of using technology responsibly.
Relevant degree backgrounds may include computer science, data science, cyber security, information systems, digital forensics, software engineering, engineering, mathematics, business, marketing, economics and other related subjects.
What matters most is that you can demonstrate relevant knowledge, practical interest and the potential to make a real contribution to a Welsh business.
