23 June 2026

Tech Talent Cymru connects Welsh SMEs with trained graduates who can help them explore AI opportunities, strengthen their cyber security and turn technical challenges into practical action.

Darogan is looking for Welsh businesses to take part in Tech Talent Cymru, a new graduate placement programme designed to make specialist technology support more accessible to SMEs.

Graduates will receive practical training, mentoring and programme support before working with participating businesses in a consultancy-style role. They will spend time understanding how your organisation works, identifying opportunities or risks and helping you decide what practical steps to take next.

Grant funding of £3,000 will also be available to help participating businesses towards the cost of hosting a graduate.

The programme will offer two specialist streams: Artificial Intelligence and Cyber Security.

1. Artificial Intelligence Graduate

AI is often discussed in broad terms, but the real value lies in understanding how it could support the everyday work of your team.

An AI-focused graduate can spend time inside your business, learn how your processes work and identify practical ways AI tools could save time, improve workflows or give your team additional capacity.

They could help with:

  • Reviewing admin-heavy or repetitive tasks
  • Mapping workflows and identifying where time could be saved
  • Testing AI tools for drafting, research, reporting or internal communications
  • Creating useful prompts, templates or guidance for your team
  • Helping staff use AI tools safely, confidently and effectively

The aim is not to introduce technology for the sake of it. It is to help your business cut through the hype and start using AI with purpose.

2. Cyber Security Graduate

Cyber risks are often hiding in plain sight. These everyday gaps can be easy to overlook when you are busy running a business, but they can leave your organisation, staff and customers exposed.

A Cyber-focused graduate can help you take a fresh look at where your business may be vulnerable and identify realistic steps to improve its cyber resilience.

They could help with:

  • Reviewing everyday cyber risks and common weak points
  • Looking at password practices, access controls and shared logins
  • Helping staff recognise phishing attempts and suspicious messages
  • Mapping important processes that are not currently documented
  • Creating a practical cyber action plan for your business
  • Building staff confidence around the basics of cyber security

Rather than overwhelming your team with technical language, graduates will focus on practical improvements that can become part of the way your business works every day.
