QUALIFICATIONS AND RELEVANT TRAINING       

ESSENTIAL

A registered nursing qualification (NMC) or equivalent relevant professional qualification.

Registered member with an appropriate professional body (where relevant).

DESIRABLE

Qualification in Occupational Health or willingness to work towards it.

Relevant management qualification.

Training qualification.

RELEVANT EXPERIENCE

ESSENTIAL

At least 5 years of experience in the field of health, well-being or occupational health.

Experience of making decisions and prioritising work in a busy environment.

Experience of presenting and training on every level within an organisation.

Experience of motivating and managing change and leading staff to achieve successfully.

Experience of leading on service improvement plans.

DESIRABLE

Experience of leading or managing staff or teams.

Experience in the management field including managing staff at various levels.

Experience of managing budgets (revenue and capital) and resources (people and assets).

Experience of leading a large workforce.

Experience of developing business cases, and work programmes and achieving targets.

Experience of leading an effective relationship and collaborating with external stakeholders including contractors and external agencies.

SKILLS AND SPECIALIST KNOWLEDGE

ESSENTIAL

Understanding of health, well-being and occupational health principles and the relevant legislative framework.

Understanding of clinical governance principles and working within professional boundaries.

Ability to use data and information to monitor and improve service performance.

Able to make robust and accountable decisions.

Able to lead specific fields of service when supporting the strategic direction of the service Manager.

Effective communication skills (verbal, written and presentation) and the ability to influence and manage stakeholders.

Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work at all levels within the organisation.

Robust IT skills in relevant software (e.g. MS, Word, Excel).

DESIRABLE

A good understanding of the Council’s structure and arrangements.

Understanding of project and programme management.

An understanding of the policies, legislation and expectations relevant to the work areas of the Department's services.

An understanding of the work areas of the Department's services.
